Spiritual Pilgrimage: Part 1
by Diane Forestell May
Notre Dame
For centuries in every tradition and culture mankind has sought to enhance their spiritual being through journeys to places of spiritual power. This fall, Diane Forestell and Tom May joined a group of spiritual seekers to travel to sacred sites in France. Many of these sites have greeted pilgrims for hundreds of years. The cathedrals at Chartres and Notre Dame were once sacred places for the Druids. The combination of the focused spiritual energies of centuries of prayer, with the powerful natural earth energies that have attracted people for longer than we know, creates a unique experience for meditation and inner growth.
The intention of this trip was to feel the inspiration of the Virgin Mary. Although many sites were visited, there were three sites that Diane felt the presence and guidance of Mary: Notre Dame, Chartres and Lourdes. The energy field at Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris gives a sense of inner quiet as one approaches. Inside, as Diane was beginning her meditation, she sensed the presence, in spirit, of a shy, quiet woman dressed in a simple robe. Thinking that many different people would be attracted to this inspiring place, Diane nodded to her and continued with her meditation. When finished meditating she noticed that the woman was still there sitting beside her. With a sideways glance from her gentle face the woman said, “People do not know that I am a simple person.” The shock of recognition was replaced by the warmth and love of the woman whom Diane then understood to be Mary. Mary said, “Jesus taught me profound love. As a child when he slept there was light around him. He felt peoples’ pain and anger and was distressed as a small child. I learned to soothe him with love. I took Jesus to the mountains to see the wholeness of life; how one thing feeds the other. Many things came to him to give meaning to what we saw. He showed me that we are each individual with goals and dreams for our own purpose.”
“When I left Saarn to help Mary, he created the movement of Divine Worship that connected all to the Godhead. I could not influence this. On my return he told me that he would be speaking to all who would listen. My children have my heart.”
Mary said “the Divine Heart is where the messages come from.”
A beacon had been lit for Diane’s path on the pilgrimage.
