A Spiritual Pilgrimage:  Part 3
by Diane Forestell May

Lourdes, France

September 15, 2000

Three ‘pilgrims’ from the traveling group approached the entrance to the grounds of the grotto and church of Lourdes.  The group walked down the broad sidewalk  giggling and enjoying the beautiful evening, recounting theirs day’s events exploring the grotto and community around the site where Mary had visited the children many years ago.  Mary appeared, walking in front of them.  Her countenance was very solemn and she said, “I want you to show deep reverence here.”  Diane related Mary’s message to the others and turned back to find that Mary was not still walking with them.  They continued toward the church and decided to watch the evening’s candlelight processional from atop the great staircase of the church, overlooking the plaza.  It was a spectacular sight to see thousands of people carrying candles, walking around the long promenade as they sang Ave Maria and prayed.

When the service ended, the group walked toward the exit.  Mary started walking in front of them again, adjusting her veil.  She said that she wanted them to have that experience.

Then as she walked along she turned to them and said: ”Children of my Blessed Heart, you have experienced the power of love and devotion, the purity of love, the devotion of the faithful to their higher beliefs.  Give what you’ve learned to others.  Share you love. Share your devotion.  Share your faith.  Children of my heart, may it be with you always.”

She looked over at Diane and said, “Are you OK?”

Just moved beyond words.
